Spring Activities To Do At Home With Toddlers
These easy toddler activities are perfect to do at home whether you’re looking for activities that you can do with them to bond or that they can do independently while you make dinner or finish a load of laundry.

1. Sensory Bin
Activity: Flower Sensory Bin
Objective: Child will explore and learn through hands-on tactile play.
You Will Need:
- tray or bin
- any type of filler (we used sunflower seeds)
- spoons, scoops, and cups
- flowers or petals
How To: Fill the tray with filler and add the flowers or petals. You can add spoons, scoops, or cups for pouring and scooping for those fine motor skills.
Sensory bins are always a win!
You can literally use anything you have in hand and throw it all in in a bin or tray and let your little one explore with the objects. Your little one will be so engaged!
You can use dry beans, dry rice, or dry cereal and add spoons, scoops and cups.

Activity: Matching Flashcards
Objective: Child will match the flower flashcards and name the flower after an adult names it.
You Will Need:
- Print out these Matching Flashcards
- Laminate the Flashcards for longer durability
How To: Once you have the Flashcards ready, find a space to lay out the flashcards. (you can either lay the flashcards on a table or on the floor) Lay out a set and hand a flashcard to your little one and name the flower and tell your little one to find the matching flower and encourage to repeat the name of the flower for language development.
This is a Montessori inspired activity and it is such a fun and interactive game your toddler can play and learn about similarities and difference between flowers.

3. Felt Flowers In A Row
Counting Flowers Activity for Toddlers
Activity: Felt Flowers In A Row
Objective: Child will show developing understanding of number and quantity.
You Will Need: Felt Flowers by Lovevery or give your child 5 flowers from your home
How To: Count 1-5 with your toddler. You can also say, ‘you have 3 flowers and I have 2 flowers,’ while giving your little one the flowers. You can also include new vocabulary using more, less, equal, same.

4. Flower Arranging
Activity: Flower Arranging
Flower Arranging Activity for Toddlers
The felt flowers are by Lovevery!
Objective: Child will care for the environment
You Will Need:
- felt flowers by Lovevery or real fresh flowers from your garden or home
- a small vase
- a small pitcher with water (if using real flowers) or you can use black beans or rice
How To: Gather all flowers and supplies and place them on a table. Using the small pitcher, have your child pour water or dry rice/beans in the small vase. This step will help develop eye-hand coordination. Next, pick a flower and place it into the vase, repeat until all the flowers have been arranged in the vase.
Flower arranging is a beautiful experience, knowledge of the natural world experience. This activity is fun, easy, and full of Practical Life skills for toddler.
5. Plant A Flower
Plant a Flower Activity for Toddlers
Activity: Plant A Flower
Objective: Child will develop knowledge of the natural world.
You Will Need:
To garden the easy way use the Grow Kit! It includes the soil, seeds, and pot.
- Grow Kit
- child size watering can or a cup or pitcher
- child size trowel or a or spoon
- water
How To: You’re going to want to do this activity outdoors! Set out all the materials in a shady area. Read and follow the Grow Kit instructions. Super easy set up and a fun outdoor activity that will help your toddlers fine motor, gross motor, cognitive, and social emotional skills.
6. Paint A Flower

Activity: Paint A Flower
Objective: Child will develop fine motor skills, small muscle control and hand-eye coordination.
You Will Need:
- download and print flower template
- paint (I like to add 1-3 different colors)
- paintbrush
- tray (for the paint)
- paper towels (to wipe little messes)
How To: Once you download and print the flower template, set out all the materials on a table. Let your little one paint the flower using the child size paintbrush. Painting benefits toddlers to acquire hand-eye coordination and sensory exploration.

7. Hammering Petals Art
Activity: Hammering Petals Art
Objective: Child will use the hammer to bang on the petals, to use their motor skills and movement concepts.
You Will Need:
- fresh flower petals
- tray or bowl
- child size wooden hammer
- paper
How To: First, collect your petals and put the on a tray or bowl. You can have your child explore the garden and allow to pick their own flowers. Next, place the petals onto the paper and allow your child to hammer the petals. I have to admit that it took a lot of hammering to get the colors onto the paper. Which, I didnt mind because the purpose of this activity is for toddlers to use their motor skills and movement concepts.
This fun activity is to increase awareness of own physical effort, body awareness, spatial awareness, and directional awareness.
