Here is baby Evelyn’s 9-12 months baby update. I can’t believe she’s already 12 months old! Looking back at Evelyn’s 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months updates til now that she is 12 months old has been such a bittersweet moment. I am glad I was able to document these updates because it’s always nice to go back and read what she has accomplished and what she’s been up to in her first year of life.
In this post I will be sharing Evelyn’s 9-12 months development, her favorite toys, and just share what she’s been up too during this period.
Like I always say please do not compare your baby to my baby. All pregnancies, babies, recoveries, and individuals are unique in their own ways. And that is okay, thats the beauty of motherhood journey.

About Evelyn
Evelyn was born on January 29, 2020. Weighting 8lb 6oz. height 21 3/4 inches at 10:41pm.
She now weighs 18lb 2oz. height. 28 1/2 inches. I am still nursing her in-between her meals. Everything I have offered her to eat, she eats it with out thinking about it twice. She loves food, her favorite food is spaghetti and meatballs, favorite vegetables are peas and broccoli, favorite fruits are apples and bananas. When we visit grandma, Evelyn always takes us to my moms fruit platter and grabs the apples to eat. She loves the sounds of animals. Her favorite animals are cats, dogs, birds, and ducks. She enjoys nature walks. We have been taking her to hikes, walks, and jogs at the park. She enjoys being in the nature. She loves when we blow bubbles and she pops them with her tiny hands.
Evelyn’s Milestones
Motor Skills
Like I mentioned on my 6-9 baby update post, Evelyn began cruising at 7 months. At around 9 months, we bought Evelyn the little balance box where it helped her engage her core and find her balance. Suddently, she started walking at end of her 10 months. To be exact she walked from the living room to the kitchen without any assistance and from there on little Evelyn walked.
Evelyn’s continuities to strive with her fine motor manipulative skills. She likes to take out and put toys in baskets, purses, boxes. Just about anything with an opening. Evelyn loves her Sliding Top Box from Lovevery’s Play Kit. The Sliding Top Box builds strength, hand-eye coordination, and problem solving skills.
Social and Emotional
Evelyn recognizes herself and familiar people by their name. Evelyn has close relationships with familiar adults and interacts in an increasingly competent and cooperative manner with them. She loves being around others.
Evelyn loves to play peek-a-boo, loves to play with puppets, enjoys music and movement, and enjoys messy play.
Our favorite children music to listen everyday are Ella Jenkins and Greg & Steve.
Language
Evelyns receptive language is developing tremendously. She shows understanding of frequently used simple phrases or sentences.
For instance, when I tell her “it’s bath time,” she stop what she’s doing and walks excitedly to the bathroom. Another example, when I tell her in Spanish “toma aqua” (drink water) she grabs her cup and drinks water. Or when I tell her “I’m going to change your diaper” she runs away! and rather stay on the floor and play.
Evelyn continues to enjoy books. Every morning when she wakes up, she goes straight to her books and briefly looks and flips the pages.
She enjoys when I read, sing, or when doing rhyming activities with her.
Self Help Skills
Evelyn feeds self small pieces of food and loves to drink her smoothies in the ezpz mini cup. We have been practicing feeding with the baby spoon. However, she prefers to eat with her hands.
I have a little kitchen helper now. Evelyn tries to help me unload the silverware from the dishwasher. Sometimes running away with them.
Also, when I give her a bit of Aveeno baby lotion in the palm of her hand, she rubs her hands together.
As for dressing she anticipates one or two steps now by extending her arms out and when I’m putting her shoes on she tries to help me.
Cognitive Learning. Thinking, Problem-Solving:
Evelyn has been loving her Lovevery toys. She increasingly shows understanding of how objects move in space or fit in different spaces. Which is why we love Lovevery toys because it gives Evelyn opportunity to explore spatial relationships or movement of self or objects through space, trying a variety of possibilities.
Evelyn is so small in size and age, but she bring such big happiness in our lives. She is beginning to know the world and It’s so touching how she looks at the people around her.
