Amazing Montessori Activities
Today, I’m sharing 5 Montessori activities that I have been using this week for my daughter Evelyn. These Montessori activities are intended for 12-16 months old however, you can still continue doing these activities with your toddler.
These activities are full of learning experiences to help them develop cognitive skills, language skills, and motor skills.
I will also be linking everything in this post and will try my best to link similar toys to the Lovevery Play Kits.

5 Montessori Activities
- Farm Animals with Flashcards (FREE PRINTABLE)
- Puzzles
- Mega Legos/ Blocks
- Wooden Coin Bank
- Water Play
1. Farm Animals with Flashcards
For this activity, I introduced the farm animals to Evelyn by naming and making the sounds of each animal. At around 15 months, I made the printable and now we are matching the animals with the cards.
Such a fun and great activity to help toddlers with language and classification.
2. Puzzles
Wooden Critters Number Puzzle – Unicorn This puzzle develops counting, problem solving, sorting, and matching skills.
At the end of the day, any puzzle you give to your toddler at this age is a beneficial way to help boost their eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills, and cognitive skills.
3. Mega Legos and Blocks
Noticed I only put out a couple of legos and not the whole bag? Lets be honest who wants to pick up 80 mega legos? My child only loves to take them out of the bag.
No but really, so far Evelyn only knows how to put two blocks together. So figured we don’t need many to start off with. Figured a couple legos out will give her great practice for her fine motor skills.
Legos are a great way for Fine Motor!
I also included the first blocks from the Lovevery 9-10 Months, The Explorer Play Kit. At this age, your toddler will enjoy stacking a tower of blocks as high as possible and then watching what happens when they knock them down.
4. Wooden Coin Bank
This week we used the carrot lid coin bank with carrots and pompoms. The Lovevery 13-15 Months Play Kit comes with this wooden coin bank set, which includes a CARROT LID WITH CARROTS FOR COIN BANK, COIN LID AND COINS FOR COIN BANK, and POSTING LID FOR COIN BANK.
All these are great to practice fine motor precision while posting with coins, carrots, and smaller home items for fun DIY flexibility.
5. Water Play
We can never go wrong with water play during the summer!
This week we used the Splash Bombs Tropic Reef Scrambler Dive Set. This set comprises of five different colored fish and a net to scoop them with. So, I would count or name the color of the fish as she tried using the fishnet to scoop the fish out.
Another toy in our tray is the little grip canister set, and the opposite balls from Lovevery.
The little grip canister set is ergonomically designed for little hands, this set teaches volumes about volumes!
The opposite balls from Lovevery are great to explore light versus heavy and sinking versus floating—for fun on the floor or in the bath.
More on Montessori Inspired Work
Books, Gross Motor, Practical life, and more
During the week, Evelyn enjoys the basket of books we keep out for her. She loves when we read her books. We also do gross motor play, music and movement. Evelyn also enjoys her practical life work, and we continue to find more and more opportunities for her to participate in our day to day family work. One of her favorite is helping in the kitchen.
