Toddler Entryway Idea
Are you looking for small toddler entryway idea to create in your home? Here are all the details to create an entryway for your kid!
I have created a self-care station, a functional kitchen, and now this toddler entryway for my daughter Evelyn. If you’ve been here on my blog you know that I live in an apartment and you know how very minimal I am when it comes to furniture and what I bring home. Mainly by taking in consideration in preparing a safe environment for Evelyn.
Why I created an entryway for my toddler
Evelyn is 21 months old and she’s now been participating in self-dressing. So I wanted to created a small space in our home to encourage and facilitate her needs. I wanted to create this entryway where she can independently hang her own jackets, coats, and bags or when we are headed out to grab her own items. A place where she can sit and have easy access to her shoes. An area where I can teach her to hang her jacket and put her shoes neatly back in the basket or rack. I wanted this area to be as simple as possible to not overwhelm her.
I hope I give you some ideas for your own home but keep in mind that when creating an environment for your child, it may look different in every home. But creating an entryway for your kid is definitely achievable.

What you include in your entryway for your kid will look different for everyone depending where you live, the season. and the weather.
We live in beautiful Southern California where we are super spoiled by the weather. We are a couple days away from winter and it is finally getting chilly in the mornings and nights. Also, we’ve had few showers so I was super excited to bring out the raincoats and rain boots out for Evelyn.
Tips:
- Only put out what you need for that day. For instance, today was raining so I only put out her raincoat and rain boots.
- Suggest keeping only 2 paris of shoes, keeps things more tidy especially for small entryways.
- Less is more!
- Model and help your child place things where they belong. It took us 1 week for Evelyn to place her shoes under her stool and keep the area tidy.
